Reed Sweet Grass

Reed sweet grass is a containment control pest plant in the Marlborough region. The objective is to prevent any increase in the distribution of this weed and reduce infestation levels outside the Grovetown Lagoon area. The Marlborough District Council and/ or Department of Conservation will carry out all the control work required for this pest at no cost to the landowner.

Sites are visited at regular intervals to ensure all infestations are controlled. Reed sweet grass is banned from sale, propagation, distribution or commercial display. Should you see this plant please report it immediately to the Marlborough District Council or Department of Conservation, who will arrange for its control.
