Pest Animals
There are a number of feral animals living in Marlborough. Many of these are threatening our productive agricultural land and native ecosystems. Generally the distribution of these animals is widespread, and without everyone undertaking a level of responsibility, the impact of these species can be detrimental economically and environmentally.
Some of these feral animals are declared pests under the Regional Pest Management Strategy prepared by Marlborough District Council. Under this strategy, there are legal obligations for land occupiers and agencies to undertake control of the declared pest animals.
For other feral animals in Marlborough, there is no legal requirement for land occupiers to intervene. However, voluntary action is encouraged.
