Surveillance Pests
Seven pest species are classified as surveillance pests in the Marlborough district. These are:

Blue Morning Glory (Pomoea indica)

Climbing Asparagus (Asparagus scandens)

Kahili Ginger and Yellow Ginger (Hedychium gardineramum and H. flavescens)

Cotton Thistle (Onopordum acanthium)

Lagarosiphon (Lagarosiphon major)

Purple Loosetrife (Lythrum salicaria)

Darwain Ants (Dolermyrma darwiniana)
Council's objective for surveillance pests is to collect information and keep records relating to the distribution, the impacts and the spread of these species and to educate the public as to their identification and most appropriate method of control.
