Your District needs you!
Communities play an important role in managing pests. Community members with pest problems often have the enthusiasm and local knowledge to undertake pest control programmes to provide benefits to the community.
Council’s staff can help with the identification of unwanted plants and insects. If an unusual or invasive plant or insect is found on someone’s property, then Council's biosecurity section should be contacted for information and advice. Council’s biosecurity officers have considerable experience and expertise in pest management matters and often pass this information on to the community through Education Sessions and Initiatives.
Early intervention is important when controlling new pests and can often determine the success or failure of future control programmes. Information passed on from the community can alert the Council to potential threats from unwanted organisms entering Marlborough.
