Community Information
Marlborough District Council has produced a number of pamphlets to help you help the environment, from composting and natural alternatives for your home and garden, to ways you can help the environment and reduce household hazardous waste.
We can also come and talk to local Marlborough community groups on any of the topics above.
Discount Vouchers
Council encourages residents to reduce the volume of organic waste that is produced in our region. To encourage this further the Marlborough District Council offers a $15 discount on the purchase of worms or worm farm containers or on an EM Bokashi system. Council sells the EM Bokashi system from its offices.
Please contact our Customer Service Centre on Ph: 520 7400 for further information. Worms can be obtained from Wairau Worms, Ph: 572 2636, email: wairauworms@kinect.co.nz.
Sustainable Living
The Sustainable Living programme encourages us to become more sustainable around our homes and gardens. Informal seminars are run on sustainable living topics at regular intervals throughout the year. These two-hour sessions are informative, interesting and have practical suggestions to take home and adopt on topics like waste, shopping, gardening, energy, water, building and renovating.
For further information go to the Sustainable Living website www.sustainableliving.org.nz. Pamphlets have been produced on the information from the seminars.
