Education Programmes For Schools And School Age Children

MBC EMR Programme. Council's environmental education programme aims to help schools meet its strategic goals of taking care of the environment.  We value the opportunity to work with schools on environmental programmes and we have developed a number of programmes which are curriculum-linked where possible.  Staff are available to come and work with schools on planning and implementing programmes in the Marlborough region.

We have good resources available and experience working with both primary and secondary schools:

  • EnviroEducation - Schools
Education programmes for schools and school age groups.
  • Enviroschools
Enviroschools is a comprehensive curriculum-based programme that focuses on an action learning cycle to help students make positive changes for their environment.
  • Kids' Edible Gardens
A programme which looks at using the compost from worm farms or EM Bokashi systems to start an organic edible garden for your school.
  • Organic Waste
Schools produce a significant amount of organic waste from lunches.  We can help you to reduce this waste by providing you with an EM Bokashi system or a worm farm.
  • Wise up on Worms
A resource for how to resuse your food scraps and create great natural compost.
  • Wai Korero Water Talk
This waterways awareness programme is available free of charge to all primary schools throughout Marlborough.
  • Marlborough's Water
Water is essential for life and therefore needs to be treasured and looked after. In this information you can learn about how we get our water and how we look after it.
  • Waste Minimisation
In Marlborough we produce enough waste each year to fill one rugby field 15 storeys high. There are a number of ways that schools can reduce their waste and also see where our waste goes in Marlborough.
  • Waste Kit
A resource kit with information on how to reduce your waste and find out what our waste is made up of.
  • Green Talk
Check out our Green Talk Schools newsletter which we send out once a term for information and ideas.
  • Websites for Schools
These are some websites that we have found really useful in the environmental education area.
