My Well
Well Records and Security
Once the well is completed the drilling contractor will produce a Well Log which records the well dimensions, its location, geology and details of the groundwater in the well. A copy is passed to Council to add to its records, all wells in Marlborough. Unfortunately, many older wells are not included.
Council has now linked its well archive to the GIS Mapping system Dekho. Instructions on how to find the details of your well are available below. Please note that the position of wells is not always accurate.
How Safe is Your Well?
Good quality groundwater is vital for our health and that of our animals and crops. There are a number of simple steps which well owners need to do to protect the aquifer so that groundwater is kept pristine for everyone to use. Prevention is better than a cure.
- Fence off your well to keep stock away
- Do not store potential contaminants such as chemicals, fertilisers and waste near your well
- Do not spray herbicides around your well
