Tuamarina Blind Creek Landcare Group
This group was established in 2004 with the goal of restoring an area of public land administered by the Marlborough District Council alongside Blind Creek near Tuamarina. The Landcare group is mostly made up of local residents and is supported by the Marlborough District Council, the Tuamarina School and the Outward Bound Trust.
Restoration planting has been carried out in three stages over the 1.2 hectare site; stage one in 2005 and 2006, stage two in 2007 and 2008 and stage three in 2009. Weed control will be ongoing and a funding grant received from the central government's Community Biodiversity Fund in 2009 will assist with this over the period from 2009 to 2011, by which time the plantings should be well established.
