Flows and Levels
Current river level data is available online through the list below. A map showing the river flow monitoring sites can be used to display data from the various sites. Graphs and tables can be viewed by clicking on the map. Some data is also available from sites operated by NIWA and the Tasman District Council.
The rivers information displayed is received directly from Council's water level recorders via radio or cell phone. This information is updated at one to six hour intervals depending on site location and more regularly during heavy rain events.
In addition to the Marlborough District Council, the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research Ltd (NIWA) also operates sites in Marlborough. The data from these sites is provided through the Environmental Data Explorer New Zealand website. Queries regarding these sites should be directed to NIWA.
Information is provisional, as it has not been verified by on-site checks. At times, due to technical issues, data may be incorrect or not completely up to date.
River Levels
River Level Alarms are triggered when the level enters a high or low state. The list of active alarms is automatically updated on Councils Hydrotel System.
All consent holders should be aware of their consent conditions, and check flows regularly, to ensure that they are complying.
Caution
Caution should be exercised if using data for decisions that may concern public safety, or the conduct of business that involves monetary or operational consequences.
