The Wine Exhibition
At Marlborough Museum
The story behind the vineyards and the winemaking heritage of Marlborough can be easily absorbed during a visit to the Wine Exhibition at Marlborough Museum.
Exhibits include old, rare and unusual wines, early viticulture and winemaking equipment and other memorabilia. There are also photographs and oral histories of some of the key figures from Marlborough's wine world.
With visual and interactive displays that cover everything, from the early history of growing grapes, the technological innovations that have helped the industry along, to the contemporary issues facing winegrowing today.
The Wine Exhibition is a must-see for every visitor to the region.
Features include:
- A wine bottle-shaped sound booth, where visitors can hear industry pioneers like Jane Hunter and Gerry Gregg tell their stories
- Soil profiles of the region, along with a working irrigation model
- A display of Marlborough’s varietals and the wines made from them
- Examples of innovation and kiwi ingenuity, including a home-made wine bottle labelling machine, corkers, tipping tanks, a leaf plucker, screw presses and pumps
