Locator Maps
Emergency location signs along the walking and mountainbike trails in the Wither Hills Farm Park have been installed to help ensure a speedy response to any emergency.
The 70 signs are dotted along all the Wither tracks, at junctions and lookout points from the popular Lower Quail Stream and Rotary Lookout Track to the Cobb Cottage, Mapp and Split Apple Tracks, right up to the Skyline and Mt Vernon Tracks, as well as in the Mountain Bike Park.
Each sign carries the name of the track and the GPS coordinates for that location; a set of numbers which identifies the location to emergency services.
Anyone who has an accident or a medical emergency should ring 111 and give the coordinates to the operator. The Wither Hills Farm Park is the first to introduce this safety measure. It's an important addition with a couple of hundred thousand people on the hills using the tracks every year.
Fire is the major risk in the Farm Park and the Council is responsible for fire safety. Its evacuation plan for the area is reviewed annually.
