Pelorus Bridge

Pelorus at Totara FlatAmenities at this site include a camping ground, café and shop. Surrounding the river is a rocky beach and native bush-covered hills. Upstream there are farms, pastoral land and bush.

Pelorus Bridge is situated half-way between Blenheim and Nelson, and gets a lot of use in both summer and winter, with visitors swimming and bush walking. The site is used by the Outward Bound School and tour operators for kayaking and other water activities.

The average yearly rainfall at the site is 2,000mm. The primary impact on water quality is from agricultural land use and feral animals.
