Portage
Portage Bay is an enclosed bay in the Kenepuru Sound, with many houses and a large hotel complex. The area has many permanent inhabitants and there are large numbers of visitors both by car and boat. There are boat moorings in the bay.
The beach is sand and stones with steep bush-covered hills surrounding the whole bay. The bay area has a yearly average rainfall of 2,000mm.
