Register Your Dog
Information on registering your dog(s) for the first time and renewing registration.

Dog Registration Fees
Registration fees generated cover Dog Control services including monitoring and enforcing the Dog Control Act 1996.

What are My Registration Fees Used For?
Monitoring and enforcing the Dog Control Act 1996 and ensuring compliance with Dog Control Bylaw and Policies.

Change of Details
You need to let us know if you change your address, someone else looks after your dog for longer than a month, any details change or need amending.

Reducing the Cost of Registration
There are two easy ways you can reduce your dog registration fees. 1. Pay on time - avoid penalty fees and 2. de-sex and microchip your dog, conditions apply.

Transfer of Registration
If you or your dog move to another area, you need to inform both Marlborough District Council and the council in your new area within six weeks.

If Your Dog Has Died
Please tell us. A refund will be calculated from the date the written notification is received.

Working Dogs
Working dogs must be registered. Find out what a working dog is and information on Disability Assist and Companion Dogs.

Owning More Than Two Dogs
A special licence is required to keep more than two dogs on a property.

Report Dog Complaints

Contact Animal Control on 520 9033 to report stray or dangerous dogs or if you think a dog is being mistreated.
