To ensure traffic safety, minimise damage to public land and help animal owners, Animal Control will remove animals from public roads and areas.
Stock wandering onto privately owned land is not an issue that Animal Control has jurisdiction to deal with. This is a matter to be sorted out between the land and animal owners.
Grazing Stock in Vineyards
Sheep have been gaining popularity as growers look for alternatives to conventional practices.
It is important that the owners of the vineyards take care to prevent stock from wandering.
To ensure traffic safety, minimise damage to public land and help animal owners, Animal Control will remove animals from public roads and areas.
Stock wandering onto public land or roads may be impounded. If impounded the animal owner will be liable for impounding fees, sustenance costs and any cartage.
Stock owners are liable for any damage caused by their stock wandering onto the road if the presence of the stock on the road is due to the owner’s negligence.
