Cemetery Fees

1. For children buried in adult area, full fees apply.
2. Second interment fee applies to conventional burials only.
3. Centenarians are exempt from plot fees.
4. Plot fees for burials or ashes are not applicable to RSA members if buried in RSA area.
5. The long-term reservation of ashes and burial plots in Council operated cemeteries is not permitted and all existing reservations are non-refundable or deductible.
6. Non-standard interments or extraordinary works required as part of the interment process may incur additional charges on a time and materials basis. Please check with Council.
7. All MDC cemeteries are closed to funeral services on Saturday afternoons (after 1.00 pm), Sundays and Public Holidays as they fall.
8. Late fee:  Any graveside services at which attendees remain on site after 4.00 pm on a weekday or after 1.00 pm on a Saturday which results in cemetery staff being unable to carry out necessary cemetery operations, may be levied a late fee for every hour or part hour after those times.
9. Out of District Fee:  Any person who has not resided in the Marlborough District for a period of three months or more any time during his or her life will incur an additional fee of 25% of the normal cemetery charges as may apply.
10. Memorial Warrants:  All memorials must be installed in accordance with Council requirements and procedures. See Cemetery Memorial Warrant and Installation Guide (157 Kb).
