Kenepuru And Central Pelorus Sound

Kenepuru and Central Pelorus Sound Emergency Planning Guide. Extreme weather conditions, isolation and access can create extra problems in an emergency in the Sounds.

A locally-based emergency response plan has been put in place for the Kenepuru and Central Pelorus Sound area, based on the existing rural fire forces: Fire Force at Clova Bay, Waitaria and Kenepuru Heads; Fire Force at Waitaria Bay; Kenepuru Fire Force at Te Mahia; and Nopera Fire Force at Raetihi.

These four teams provide a skilled group of people who will assist in emergency situations. They are equipped with radios, enabling good communication between volunteer teams.

In effect they are partners in the Civil Defence structure – serving the Kenepuru and Central Pelorus Sound area.
