Wakamarina And Canvastown

Wakamarina- Canvastown Emergency Planning Guide. A locally-based emergency response plan has been put in place for the Canvastown-Wakamarina area, utilising Te Hora Marae as the central communications base and supported by the Canvastown Rural Fire Force.

Marlborough District Council has equipped the Te Hora Marae site with a VHF radio that is linked to the Civil Defence Emergency Operations Centre and to volunteers equipped with VHF handheld radios at: Canvastown, Kaiuma Road, Wakamarina and Main Road.

The Canvastown Fire Force provides a skilled group of people who will assist in emergency situations.

They are equipped with VHF radios to enable good communication between volunteer teams. In effect they are partners in the Civil Defence structure - serving the Canvastown-Wakamarina area.
