Resource Recovery and Recycling

The Marlborough region has invested heavily in its recycling infrastructure. The Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) opened in 2008 and now diverts over 3,000 tonnes of material away from landfill each year.

  • E-Waste Collection Facility
    With effect from 1 May 2012 the Council opened an E-Waste facility for the collection of unwanted electronic goods.
  • Greenfingers Composting 
    Greenfingers operates a green waste composting site just past the Blenheim Transfer Station on the Wither Road east extension.
  • Kerbside Recycling Collection
    The kerbside recycling collection occurs weekly in Blenheim and Picton on the same day as rubbish bag pick-up day.  New households please contact Council about how you can pick up a crate and information about the materials that can be placed in the crate for recycling.  Replacement crates can be purchased from Council at $15 each.
  • Recycling at the Transfer Stations
    Information on items that can be recycled at the transfer stations.
  • Resource Recovery Centre
    Council operates the Resource Recovery Centre opposite the transfer station in Wither Road Extension, Blenheim.
  • Re-use Shop
    Anything that can be re-used can be dropped off at the Re-use Shop, located at the Resource Recovery Centre.
  • Salvage Yard
    The salvage yard is an extension to the Re-use Shop concept and is designed to accept bulkier items suitable for resale back to the community.
  • Business Resource Efficiency Programme
    The aim of this project is to assist the Viticulture, Forestry and Silviculture sectors of industry within Marlborough to reduce the amount of waste they send to landfill through a series of reduction, reuse and recycling programmes.
