Marlborough District Council (MDC) Bylaw 2010

MDC Bylaw 2010. Council has reviewed its current MDC Bylaws in accordance with the Local Government Act 2002 and has determined that amendments to the current MDC Bylaw 2002 are the most appropriate method to address perceived problems within the Marlborough District in: ensuring that the Council's bylaws are administered in an efficient, effective, consistent, fair and transparent manner.

The bylaws address public places; traffic, parking, and movement of livestock; dog control; nuisances; control of cemeteries; keeping of animals, poultry and bees; and prevention of fire. Council has drafted the MDC Bylaw 2010 in accordance with the Local Government Act 2002.

During the review it was established that two chapters of the MDC Bylaw 2002 were no longer required, as the harm that these chapters were originally introduced to deal with can be addressed in other ways. These chapters related to the use of public facilities and the use of the MDC Coat of Arms.

The Water Supply chapter is still undergoing review.

The MDC Bylaw 2010 is made up of the following chapters:

Chapter 1 - Introductory

This is a general-type bylaw covering interpretations of terms, various delegations, serving of orders and notices, licences, offences, breaches and penalties and various repeals of old bylaws.
