Marlborough District Council research projects, monitoring activities and plan preparation generate a vast amount of information about the Marlborough environment. In addition, the council's Resource Consents Group and Building Control Group generate information through their consent processing and compliance control activities. A number of computer-based systems are used to manage the collection, storage and retrieval of information. Here are some examples of these systems:
- PARTICIPANTS DATABASE
This database manages the submission/decision process for resource management planning documents. The system stores information on people who have participated in the planning process to date and includes summaries of submissions on the various planning documents.
- QDAS
This is used for archiving water quality information.
- WELLS
This database stores information on the location of wells around the district.
- PROCON
This is used for tracking resource consents from the time an application is first lodged with the council through to a consent being granted or declined, and for on-going monitoring of any conditions imposed.
- GIS
The council's Policy and Information Group also has Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to assist in plan-making, issue analysis and policy review.
