Wairau Plains Landscape Project

In response to community concerns over landscape changes occurring on the Wairau Plain with the rapid expansion of vineyards since 1995, the Council has developed the "Wairau Plain Landscape Concept Guidelines". These are intended to provide a practical, hands on guide to planting both native and other plants on the Plain area to restore some landscape values.  Click HERE to find Wairau Plains Landscape Guidelines on the Summary List page. Two related working groups were established to assist the Council in promoting and implementing the guidelines - one with a focus on public land, and one with promoting initiatives on private land. For more information contact Ian Shapcott at the Council.
