Secondary emergency during COVID-19

  • Date 12:16 PM Thursday 30 April 2020
  • Type COVID-19

Marlborough Civil Defence and Emergency Management (CDEM) have developed plans for what we might have to do if we experienced a second emergency such as an earthquake or tsunami while under COVID-19 restrictions.

So don’t forget the DROP, COVER, HOLD message and remember LONG, STRONG, GET GONE in case of tsunami. Try to stay within your “bubble”.

If you are advised to evacuate due to a flood or a vegetation fire, you can ring the Council on 03 520 7400. Your request will be transferred to Civil Defence Welfare Team who can find you emergency accommodation if necessary. We will get back to you as soon as accommodation is found. If your call is after hours the overnight call centre will follow the same process.

So if you do have to evacuate, have a think what you and your family might need in your “grab bag“.
