Construction closures are in place approximately 1.2km from the start of Tennyson Inlet Road, to just before the Opouri Saddle as part of the Marlborough Roads Recovery Project until Friday 24 July.
The closure is required for the construction of a retaining wall, drainage improvements and road reinstatement.
The closures are in place, Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm.
Overlength vehicle restrictions have also been extended until Friday 24 July through this site, due to the narrowness of the road while construction is in place. The vehicle length restriction is in place 24/7 until construction is completed.
Vehicles over 12.6m in length are not permitted to travel through this section of road. This includes no heavy truck and trailer access. Ute’s towing a trailer that are under 12.6m in length are able to travel.
If you are concerned about traveling with your vehicle through this section of road, please contact the recovery team to discuss access restrictions.
Works may occur outside of these closure times between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays and 8am and 5pm on Saturdays under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes.
At all other times unattended traffic lights will be in place with delays of up to 5 minutes.
No work will occur during the Matariki long weekend; works will finish at 12pm on Thursday 9 July and resume as scheduled at 8am on Monday 13 July.
Emergency services will always be accommodated.
All work is subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of unsuitable conditions, work will be rescheduled to the next suitable workday, and an Antenno sent.
Please contact the Marlborough Roads Recovery Team if you have any questions about these works.
