Heavy rain warning for Marlborough

MetService New Zealand has upgraded its rain warning to Red for Marlborough south of Ward to south of Kaikōura. Please change your travel plans if you were planning to travel on State Highway 1 later today or tomorrow.
Residents of Ward township should be extra vigilant - there is a high chance of swollen rivers, slips and impassable roads. There may also be power cuts and a loss of communications.

MetService has updated its Orange Warning for Marlborough tomorrow, excluding the Marlborough Sounds. There is now a high chance it will be upgraded to a Red Warning. Please reconsider your travel plans for Monday afternoon and Tuesday. Heavy rain is expected from 4pm Mon to midnight Tue; it may cause dangerous river levels, flooding, slips and road closures. Be prepared for possible power and communication outages.

From 4pm Mon, most of Marlborough can expect heavy rainfall, until Tue evening.
An orange rain warning has been issued by MetService New Zealand. Expect 150 to 200 mm of rain about the ranges, and 60 to 90 mm nearer the coast. Peak rates of 10 to 20 mm/h about the ranges expected Mon night and Tue morning. Rivers and streams may rise rapidly. Expect surface flooding and slips.
Clear drains and gutters to prepare. Drive cautiously or reconsider your travel plans.
