Awatere Valley rural water supply - boil water reminder
8 July 2026
Following the heavy rain from the last few days, extra water has entered the Awatere water supply catchment. This has made the river very dirty (increased turbidity).
With increased turbidity, the effectiveness of chlorine treatment also decreases, increasing the risk of contamination.
This notice applies to the rural Awatere water supply only. The Seddon supply is treated and is not affected.
Please boil water before using it for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth if you are on the rural Awatere supply.
