Awatere Water Supply turbidity event

  • Date 5:00 PM Tuesday 20 July 2021
  • Type Water Works

Saturday's rain event has caused high turbidity (silty water) in the Black Birch catchment. Awatere Rural Water customers can expect to see increased turbidity in their water supply over the next few days.

While chlorination continued during this event, the increased organic load of the water is reducing chlorine levels within the network. The boil water notice still applies, and for at least the next 14 days, all rural water customers should be boiling their water for potable use.
