About the Speed Limit Review Consultation

For speed limits to be effective, they need to be underpinned by community support and understanding.

That’s why we want to hear from you.

It’s your chance to tell us what speed limits you think are safe and appropriate on the different types of roads we have across our region.

NZTA has suggested speed limit changes should be limited to 30/50/60/80 and 100 km/hr. The advantage of using 20km/hr increments between 60-100km/hr is it results in fewer speed categories with a greater differentiation between speed limit changes.

Your feedback will be collated and then combined with local and Transport Agency data to review the speed limits. There will be a formal consultation process to follow if speed limit changes are proposed for specific roads.

Please take the time to complete the online survey before 27 September 2019.
