Council operates a greenwaste acceptance and composting site at the western end of Wither Road opposite the Resource Recovery Centre.
|Monday to Friday||7.30 am to 5.00 pm|
|Saturday||7.30 am to 4.00 pm|
|Sunday||10.00 am to 4.00 pm|
A reduced fee of roughly half the transfer station fees for disposal is offered to encourage residents to separate out greenwaste.
Greenwaste must not contain grass clippings or fibrous materials such as flax or bamboo. Greenwaste loads contaminated with these materials will be treated as waste and charged accordingly.
Grass may contain herbicides such as Clopyralid which is used as a broad based leaf weed killer. This chemical would contaminate the greenwaste and is not broken down during the compost process.
Flaxes and bamboos are fibrous in nature and again do not readily breakdown in the composting process.
Grass clippings can be delivered to the site separately for landfill disposal.
Greenwaste can also be dropped at the Picton Transfer Station for a fee of $22.00/m3 which includes onward transportation to the Blenheim composting facility.
