Greenwaste Acceptance Facility
Changes to Site Access from Monday 7 November 2022
The greenwaste acceptance facility is located opposite the Resource Recovery Centre in Blenheim. Greenwaste and grass deliveries from the community are accepted at this site.
With effect from Monday 7 November 2022 entrance to and exit from the site will be via Wither Road.

Greenwaste and Grass Deliveries
Grass should be delivered separate from greenwaste due to the potential presence of pesticides, herbicides and the likes. Composting does not break down these chemicals so we need to ensure that the grass is kept separate and sent to landfill for disposal.
For clarity unsorted mixed loads of grass and greenwaste will be treated as grass, charged at the grass rate and sent to landfill for disposal.
Just make sure when you are delivering material to the site to keep them separated so the attendant can measure them.
Compost Supply
Please note the Greenwaste site does not currently supply compost. You can obtain compost from local retail outlets or other commercial providers.
How much greenwaste does the site take each year?
The greenwaste site receives up to 25,000 cubic metres of greenwaste each year and up to 1,000 tonnes of grass clippings.
The greenwaste is shredded on site and then distributed to the primary industry sector to be used as a mulch.
The grass is sent to landfill due to the ongoing presence of weedkillers.
