Recycling at the Transfer Stations
Transfer Stations
Council operates transfer stations in Blenheim, Havelock, Picton, Rai Valley, Seddon, Wairau Valley and Ward. Recycling facilities are available at each of these locations.
Blenheim Transfer Station
For comprehensive recycling in Blenheim please visit the Resource Recovery Centre.
At the Blenheim transfer station there is also the facility to recycle:
- Waste oil
- Scrap steel
- Whiteware
Waste oil is collected by Bens Oil and then reused as a low grade fuel oil.
Scrap steel is taken to an approved scrap yard.
Whiteware such as fridges and freezers will be degassed and then taken to an approved scrap yard.

At the rest of the transfer stations you can recycle the following items:
- Waste oil (except Ward)
- Cardboard
- Newspaper
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic milk bottles
- Plastic drink bottles
- Aluminium cans
- Steel cans
