The Havelock water supply scheme has evolved over a number of years. Water is supplied from two bores adjacent to the Kaituna River, Chlorine is added to the water at the pump station Pump Station then the water is pumped to a tank farm of 5 small tanks with a total capacity of 220 cubic metres was replaced with a single steel tank (reservoir) with a capacity of 360 cubic metres in 2010. A second reservoir of the same construction and volume was constructed in 2023, bringing the total storage for Havelock to 720 cubic metres. This provides 16 hours capacity during peak summer demand periods, improving resilience for the supply.
