Work is underway to install new LED street lighting in our streets.
Over the next six months, Marlborough Lines will install about 3,500 LED street lights throughout the district. The savings to ratepayers should be considerable. NZTA has provided an 85% subsidy for the conversion and LED luminaries last 4-5 times longer than the existing sodium lights - using less power and requiring less maintenance.
You may notice a change in the lighting in your area as a result of the conversion. The new LEDs are a white light that has a defined spill area; quite a different light to the sodium lights that provide a more orange, diffused light.
