Neil Gibbs from Picton is looking for ukulele players of all ages and abilities to pool their strumming talents to welcome the Tuia 250 flotilla to Waitohi/Picton on Friday 22 November.
A 100-strong ukulele orchestra will accompany members of the public and children from schools around Marlborough to sing Ko Te Waipounamu to welcome the flotilla.
Kapa haka and other community groups will join Mayor John Leggett to greet the crews from Tahiti, Aotearoa and Australia.
Neil says there are a lot of people who have ukuleles stashed away, and with only four strings it’s a pretty easy instrument to learn. Neil is confident he could teach someone how to be productive on the ukulele in an hour.
So grab your ukulele and give Neil a call on 021 024 22021 for a lesson, before the flotilla arrives.
