Tara Bay, Kenepuru Road – Road Closure
Update 3 September 4.45pm
Construction closures on Tara Bay Road have finished and the road is open to light vehicles.
No vehicles over 3 tonnes are allowed on Tara Bay Road until Monday 28 September.
Crews will return to site next month once weight restrictions have lifted, for shoulder repairs and pavement preparation for the top section of the road.
----------
Construction closures are in place on Tara Bay Road as part of the Marlborough Roads Recovery Project until Friday 11 September.
Drainage improvements inclusive of culvert replacement and concrete channel works have been undertaken and will now be followed by road reinstatement.
Due to weather delays earlier in the programme the extension of the closure is required to complete the final stage of programmed works.
As the new road is to be concreted the road will be closed 24/7 until Monday 31 August to all vehicles, while each section is prepared, concrete poured and cured.
The Tara Bay Jetty is inaccessible to vehicles during this period of works; pedestrian access remains available.
Following the road surfacing, daytime construction closures will continue from Tuesday 1 until Friday 11 September, at the following days and times.
- Monday to Thursday from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 5pm
- Friday from 8am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 3.30pm
Works may occur outside of these closure times under stop/go traffic management with delays of up to 15 minutes.
All work is subject to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. In the event of unsuitable conditions, work will be rescheduled to the next suitable workday, and an Antenno sent.
Please contact the Marlborough Roads Recovery Team if you have any questions about these works.
