Market Street Revamp - Maxwell Road lane closure

From Monday 21 September to Friday 23 October 2026, the Market Street Revamp closure will extend to close one lane of Maxwell Road. This closure is for the Maxwell Road / Main Street intersection to be completed.
Maxwell Road / Main Street will be closed to eastbound traffic (travelling towards Queen Street). A detour via Queen Street will be available.
The section of Market Street between Maxwell Road and Arthur Street, will remain closed during this stage of works.
From Tuesday 29 September to Wednesday 4 October the northern end of Scott Street will also be closed. A detour via Kinross Street will be available.
The closure will remain in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Pedestrian access to businesses will continue to be maintained throughout the works, and emergency services will always be accommodated.
The Market Street Revamp is being delivered as a single, coordinated construction programme to maximise efficiencies and reduce the overall construction timeframe.
