Kenepuru Permit and Piloting Information
Permits for over dimension vehicles on Kenepuru Road
Kenepuru Road is open to the public, with overweight and overlength vehicle restrictions in place.
Vehicle Restrictions
Vehicles up to 12.6 metre in length, and six tonne in weight can travel on Kenepuru Road and side roads.
Permits are required for vehicles exceeding 12.6 metres in length and six tonne in weight.
To apply for a permit for an over dimension vehicle to travel on Kenepuru Road, email recovery@marlboroughroads.com or call 0800 213 213.
Pilot Vehicles
Pilot vehicles are required for:
- Heavy vehicles over 12.6 metre in length
- Any vehicle exceeding six tonne in weight and/or 3.1 metre in width.
If you do not have your own pilot vehicle and need this to be arranged, the Recovery team can provide you with a contact for this.
Important considerations
- Please be aware that works may be in progress and/or traffic management in place.
- Please expect delays, follow all signage, and traffic management.
- Always check the weather forecast before your travel and drive to the conditions. In the event of heavy rain, a permit will not be valid.
- Use ‘Old 8’ radio frequency when travelling on Kenepuru Road.
- A permit does not give you access through the construction closures, please check the CDEM Map for closure locations and plan your travel around these.
