This application should be completed after reading the MDC Road Naming and Addressing Policy.
Road names are essential for uniquely and clearly identifying roads and associated addresses. Names must be clear, unambiguous, and appropriate for the location.
A road name is required where there are more than five address sites associated with a road.
Each road name must consist of:
- A name element (e.g., a person, place, or feature), and
- A road type (e.g., Street, Avenue, Lane).
A full list of acceptable road types can be provided by the Addressing/Road Name Coordinator.
Application Requirements
Please ensure your application includes the following:
- Two proposed names for each new road, listed in order of preference.
- A legal description of the road and a copy of the subdivision plan highlighting the road.
- Background information explaining the origin of each proposed name and its relevance to the area.
- A site plan clearly showing the proposed road names and any existing road names in the vicinity.
