Plan Change 1: Airport Protection
Marlborough District Council is proposing to make changes to the proposed Marlborough Environment Plan (pMEP) to ensure airport protection through appropriate application of the Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) to the management of land use activities occurring in close proximity to Marlborough's airports.
The proposed change involves amending the Controlled Activity rule relating to the "Erection and use of a frost fan" in the Rural Environment Zone to include an airport protection standard which will provide appropriate alignment between the pMEP and CAA rules.
The Rural Environment Zone provisions, along with the majority of the pMEP provisions, were made operative in July 2025. The proposed change to the Controlled Activity rule is therefore a plan change rather than a variation.
Affected parties were notified of the plan change on 5 October 2026 with the submission period closing on 6 November 2026.
