Dairy Farm Compliance Monitoring

Marlborough has a relatively small dairy industry compared to other areas. If environmental regulations are not properly enforced, this industry could negatively impact water quality.
To promote good dairy effluent management, Marlborough District Council (MDC) carries out an annual Dairy Effluent Survey Report on all farms in Marlborough.
Effluent Disposal
Effluent disposal is a permitted activity under the proposed Marlborough Environment Plan (PMEP) provided it is in a manner that is compliant with the relevant standards.
Effluent disposal is permitted under the proposed Marlborough Environment Plan (PMEP) as long as it meets the necessary standards.
Dairy farms that cannot meet the allowed activity standards need to obtain a resource consent to permit their effluent discharge.

Marlborough District Council (MDC) is committed to fostering sustainable development in the area by managing the use of natural resources.
We are tasked with ensuring adherence to environmental laws and regulations.
