We provide annual leave beyond the statutory requirement to eligible kaimahi, offering 5 weeks per annum.

For eligible kaimahi we provide sick leave provisions from commencement of employment. In addition sick leave will continue to accumulate throughout your service with us.

We provide a fully subsidised seasonal influenza vaccination to help protect you from known seasonal flu strains.

We provide eye care subsidies, for eligible kaimahi, towards the cost of optometrist appointments, eyewear, and contact lenses. Conditions apply.

Free, confidential counselling service available to all kaimahi and their immediate whānau (families) to help deal with issues that are affecting their mahi or personal life.

Ability to use EAP sessions for financial and legal support, as well as nutrition and lifestyle advice.

Extensive online resources – Access to hundreds of articles, e-books, audio recordings, podcasts, self-assessments, self-guided wellbeing programmes, and more via the TELUS Health One platform.

If your health is compromised, we want you to have access to medical treatment quickly so you can get on with enjoying life. Eligible kaimahi receive Accuro Essential Care with a default excess. You can also add your whanau, buy out the excess or increase your level of cover at your own cost. Conditions apply.

Income Protection Insurance gives you peace of mind to know that the needs of your whanau will be met in the event of your sickness. Eligible kaimahi will receive cover up to the age of 65. Conditions apply.

Life Insurance provides peace of mind and financial support when it is needed most. Eligible kaimahi are automatically covered by our policy. Conditions apply.

We believe that it's important for our kaimahi to have plans in place for their financial wellbeing. Here at Council we are committed to contributing up to 5% in superannuation. This includes contributions to KiwiSaver and AMP Master trust plan. Conditions apply.

Our Workplace

One of the best things about working at Council is the tangata (people). We’re passionate and committed to caring about the community. We’re proud of our mahi and seeing how the work we do helps make Marlborough a better place to live, work and play – from our libraries, to our parks and gardens and the streets we live in.

Social Club

The social club brings whanau together in a social atmosphere for Friday night drinks and other organised events, including mid-year and end of year celebrations.

Location

Our main office building is situated in the CBD, amongst the cafes and shops. Our offices are modern and open plan. We believe that this environment improves functionality and workflow, allowing for improved collaboration, productivity and effectiveness. It only takes 30 seconds to be in town meeting friends and whanau for lunch. Grab a book from our District Library, a two-minute stroll away, and head back to our break space or across the road to one of our premier gardens to soak up the midday sun while enjoying your lunch and a good read. For those who enjoy cycling to work we provide you with a secure bike shed to house your gear and showering facilities.

Our other locations include Marlborough Library at Te Kahu o Waipuna, Waitohi Whare Matauranga / Picton Library and Service Centre, our Harbours Office in Picton, Pollard Park, the Emergency Coordination Centre in Wither road, our Works Operations depot in Woodmor Road and the Edwin Fox Museum in Picton.
