Showcasing the workplace of tomorrow
Students at the recent 2025 Future of Work discovered a vast range of career pathways including the health and medical sector
The sixth annual Future of Work conference for Marlborough’s youth was a great success.
Held at the Marlborough Events Centre, the day-long event attracted more than 1500 students from across the region with a further 200 whānau and young people attending the evening session.
The conference, run by the Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough in partnership with Council, featured businesses and organisations across 50 interactive industry stations.
Council’s Community Partnerships Advisor Jodie Griffiths said it was a huge success thanks to the support of local businesses, industry groups and individuals passionate about career pathways for young people.
“A particular highlight was the support provided by the Rapid Relief Team who provided free hot drinks and kai. Our Marlborough Youth Council members again supported the event as well as volunteers from Rotary and Marlborough Girls’ College.
“With the closure of Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough this month, discussions are underway as to what the future of the event looks like. Every effort will be made to continue to offer the opportunity to Marlborough students to learn about career pathways and engage with local employers,” Mrs Griffiths said.
Graeme Dingle Foundation Marlborough regional manager Kelvin Watt said the event showcased what the workplace of tomorrow looked like for local youth and inspired them to become part of the region’s future.
“We know there’s strength in developing our local talent and making sure they’re set up to prosper in tomorrow’s workforce. We also know Marlborough business is at the forefront of many industries, and that some of the opportunities for our rangatahi lie right here within the region – once they’re aware of these pathways. Future of Work is helping address this need and bridge the gap,” Kelvin said.
