Proposed road stopping, 100 High Street Picton

Under section 342(1)(a) of the Local Government Act 1974, and in accordance with the 10th Schedule of that Act, public notice is hereby given that Marlborough District Council proposes to stop a portion of legal road containing 0.0034 ha adjoining Lot 2 DP 5668 (MB3D/494), Lot 1 DP 268 (MB1B/542), Lot 2 DP 3059 (MB1C/28) Marlborough Land District and shown as Section 1 on plan SO 614253.

The applicant’s property includes a service lane which is landlocked and cannot be accessed by the public without traversing private property. The southern portion of the service lane currently forms part of the customer car park for Mariners Mall. It has been used as such since the mall first opened in the late 1980s. Stopping the service lane and transferring ownership of the site will formalise what appears to be an historic anomaly.

Should the road stopping be completed the land will be transferred to and amalgamated with the adjoining landowner’s title at market value.
