Future of Work is Marlborough’s annual careers expo, designed to help rangatahi explore their next steps. It’s free to attend and open to all.
The event, on 10 June, brings together employers and education providers to showcase the wide range of opportunities available.
Project Manager Kate Gaines said the event was created to connect young people with career and employment opportunities right here in Marlborough.
“It’s grown rapidly to attract thousands of youngsters and their whānau each year, becoming a key event on the calendar.
“It’s a fantastic way for young people to see the range of opportunities and career paths that are available, and to have real conversations with people who are doing the mahi,” she said.
Community Partnerships Advisor Jodie Griffiths said Council had been proud to support the event since its inception in 2019.
“Future of Work is an inspiring event that helps students see just how many different careers are possible, including great job opportunities available locally.”
All rangatahi are welcome - including those not in school, looking for work or wanting to explore options.
The expo is practical and hands-on. Youth can talk directly with people across a wide range of industries, try activities and learn about study, training and apprenticeship options.
“Future of Work is for all young people, whether planning for university, a trade or still figuring things out. It’s also valuable for employers, who can showcase their industry and connect with future talent,” Kate said.
School groups attend during the day from 10am to 3pm. From 3pm to 6pm, the event is open to all rangatahi and their whānau.
