From June this year, Council’s Community Grants will be divided into two funding streams to improve the process.
Council’s Community Partnerships Advisor Jodie Griffiths said the application process would now be separated into Community Grants and Arts and Heritage Partnership Grants.
“Many groups will be familiar with the application process for community grants, but we are making some improvements for the 2026 grant rounds,” Mrs Griffiths said.
A new, specific Arts, Culture and Heritage Sub-Committee will reflect expertise in these areas within Council, as well as representation from the wider community. This sub-committee will now consider grant applications in the categories of ‘Art and Culture’ and ‘Heritage’ under Arts and Heritage Partnership Grants.
Applications under the categories of ‘Community Welfare and Social Services’ and ‘Sport and Recreation’ will continue to be considered through Council’s Community Grantsby the Grants Sub-committee.
Mrs Griffiths said Council valued the way in which community groups and organisations provided valuable activities, services and support to small and large communities across Marlborough.
“This often involves hours of volunteer work and generosity from the business community. Our Community Grants - through the annual pool of contestable funds - is a way we can support these community activities,” she said.

- Arts and Heritage Partnership Grant - opens 24 August and closes 8am 21 September
