Work has begun on a $1.08 million project to replace the ageing watermain along Redwood Pass Road, between Ugbrooke Road and Renners Road near Seddon.
The project is part of Council's ongoing programme to upgrade water infrastructure and improve network reliability across the district.
Project Engineer Damith Chanaka said the work would deliver improvements to the local water supply.
"The new, larger-diameter HDPE watermains will replace the ageing pipes, providing better flows and improving system resilience," he said. "Lateral connections to tobies will also be replaced where needed."
The project is being undertaken by Simcox Construction. Underground service location on the berm began on 23 May, with pipe laying starting Friday 29 May. The project is expected to take approximately 16 weeks and be completed in early September.
Traffic management will be in place throughout the project. A priority give-way (single lane closure) will be used when construction is near or on the road edge, and shoulder closures will apply at other times during working hours (7am to 6pm). Drivers should expect a travel delay of around five minutes.
Access will be maintained for residents and businesses at all times. Up-to-date information on traffic management changes will be provided by the contractor as the project progresses.
