Activities galore at libraries

There are no excuses for boredom these school holidays with action-packed programmes lined up at both the Picton and Blenheim Libraries.

Activities start at both libraries on Monday 28 September. Picton has sidewalk chalk, where children are encouraged to add their own chalk artwork to the outdoor gallery. You can try a daily “chalk challenge” or go freestyle.

This event is weather-dependent, and if the weather doesn’t play ball, then head inside where there are plenty of games and puzzles to enjoy. So many that both Tuesdays at Picton Library are games days.

Thursday is drop-in craft day and there is also a visit from the therapy dog while Friday hosts Lego in a cup. This is where participants are given a cup full of Lego and they can build whatever they want. The aim is to encourage creative thinking through the build but also through the story behind the structure, character or vehicle they have created.

Lego in a cup is also held at Blenheim Library in Te Kahu o Waipuna on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am in the school holidays.

Drop-in craft is held every day except Friday and on Tuesday there is a special ‘tween craft activity for those aged 10 years and older.

The popular therapy dogs visit on Thursday while Friday is a family movie in the children’s area.
