Environment awards now open
Entries are now open for the 2026/2027 Port Marlborough – Marlborough Environment Awards.
The awards recognised people, businesses and community groups making a positive contribution to our environment and cover a broad range of initiatives across Marlborough.
Previous winners include Wild Waikawa, a 200ha off-grid restoration project with extensive pest management and Glentoi, a farm near Ward that leads the way with native plantings, carbon-friendly grazing, wilding pine control and solar-powered water.
Categories include business innovation, community innovation, electrification and energy efficiency, farming, forestry, landscape and habitat, marine and the wine industry,
Trust coordinator Julia Brown said the awards recognised the many different ways people are improving Marlborough’s environment.
“Environment leadership doesn’t look the same for everyone,” she said. “It can be a farmer changing the way they manage their land, a business reducing its energy use, a community group restoring habitat or someone finding a new way to tackle an environmental challenge.
“The awards give us a chance to shine a light on that work, share the ideas and experiences behind it and hopefully inspire others.”
The last awards attracted 31 entries and field days allowed people to see the winning projects first-hand. Go to the Marlborough Environment Awards website for more information. Entries close 31 October.
