Marlborough's creative sector now has a dedicated online space with the launch of the new Creative Marlborough website.
The digital hub was built in response to community feedback during the development of Te Atatū - Council’s Arts, Culture & Creativity Strategy 2024-34. It is designed to provide a platform that connects, promotes and supports the region’s artists and creative organisations.
Council Arts, Culture and Heritage Manager Nicci Neilson said the project was a first for Council, completed on behalf of the creative community.
"The Creative Marlborough website is something the community told us they wanted during the development of our arts and creativity strategy. It's a platform that celebrates the incredible talent we have across the region and helps strengthen connections between creatives, organisations and the wider community,” Mrs Neilson said.
The website is designed to provide a valuable resource for artists, creators and venues. It features toolkits for creatives, project showcases, a calendar of events and industry-related stories and is home to a searchable directory of creative practitioners, organisations, venues and groups from across the region.
“It’s a tool for everyone - visitors can explore the breadth of Marlborough's creative sector, learning about what’s on offer creatively in the region, while artists and organisations can create profiles to increase their visibility and connect with new audiences, discover funding and collaboration opportunities and utilise its toolkits to promote their work,” Mrs Neilson said.
While the launch of the website was an important milestone for the region’s creatives, the work would not end here. As the platform grows, new content, profiles and resources will continue to be added, ensuring it remains a valuable and up-to-date resource for both creatives and the wider community, Mrs Neilson said.
“This is just the beginning. The website will continue to evolve over time and we're encouraging creatives from across Marlborough to add their details to the directory so the platform becomes an even richer reflection of our creative sector."
