Waste Minimisation Plans - Construction and Demolition Waste
Planning your waste
Good waste planning starts early. When preparing your WMP:
- Work with your team, subcontractors, and suppliers to choose materials wisely
- Estimate the types and volumes of waste likely to be generated
- Identify what bins and services will be needed at each stage of the build
- Set realistic waste reduction targets for key materials
- Assign a waste champion to oversee the plan on site
- Track progress and record your results as you go
Your plan doesn’t have to be perfect — getting started and improving over time is what matters most.
During and after your project
Throughout the build:
- Follow the agreed plan and adjust if needed
- Monitor waste levels and record actual outcomes
At the end of the project
- Review results with your team
- Compare outcomes against your original goals
- Identify what worked well and what could be improved
- Submit your WMP return to Council
