Scott ADAMS

My principal place of residence is in the Wairau-Awatere Ward area.
I'm a sixth generation Marlburian, residing in Renwick with my family, while working on the Northbank of the Wairau River on my family property.
My organisational experience includes being on Council this current term, a founding member of the Marlborough Rural Advisory Group (RAG) and a past Marlborough Federated Farmers President.
My key policies include Marlborough's significant need for good strategic direction regarding water management to make Marlborough positively progress.
Council needs to focus on a budget of core services with logical priorities. Just as urban and rural ratepayers personally budget on a finite income, so should council.
Vital is the need for good dedicated, committed representation in the Wairau-Awatere ward so that rural ratepayers are well represented at the council table.
Localism not communism, as we know centralisation doesn’t work.
A true democracy where it is one person one vote, no matter your colour, race, faith or genetic makeup.

My principal place of residence is in the Wairau-Awatere Ward area.
It is important for rural communities and townships to have a strong voice in council and for the past three years I have been one of those voices. I am fully committed to the roll of councillor.
As a member of the small townships committee, I am focused on meeting our communities’ needs. I have stood strong on how ratepayers’ money is used. If rate rises are required, it should only be for core infrastructure. We have had more frequent weather events in recent times, so we need to build our communities to be strong and resilient to get through them.
I am seeking re-election because I am experienced in local issues; we have challenging reforms coming and I have good central government connections. I am approachable and always available to listen.

Major future challenges confronting Marlborough are Local Government reform, the Resource Management Act review, costly water infrastructure upgrades. Representing you I’ll deliver experienced advocacy and protect Marlborough’s interests.
My understanding of small communities and rural affairs provides a record of my commitment to the Marlborough district. I offer a genuine promise to work for you, your family and the future of our region.
As chairman of the Environment and Planning Committee I deliver informed balanced governance that reflects my connection to the environment, rural communities and the primary sector. Knowledge and connections built up over many years.
As the former Chief Executive of the Marlborough Research Centre I led an organisation that has a proud record of building a stronger sustainable regional economy.
I offer consistent experienced leadership and will continue to speak up for Wairau Awatere issues and make Marlborough an even better place to live and work.
